About Me

Dr. Monton is an organizational psychologist and professor whose research examines how cultural norms, identity, and power shape behavior in high-performance environments. Her work focuses on enhancing human potential while prioritizing health, well-being, and safety, with particular attention to how high-performance cultures influence equity and sustained performance. She partners with leaders, teams, and organizations to cultivate organizational cultures that support both individual thriving and collective excellence.
Her work sits at the intersection of organizational psychology and high-performance sport, with extensions into domains such as medicine and the military. Her research has been presented nationally and internationally, including at the U.S. Department of Justice and the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
Dr. Monton’s work is informed by both academic research and firsthand experience as a high-performance athlete. Prior to her graduate studies, she was a professional athlete on the Canadian Women’s National Water Polo team for over a decade, helping Canada reach the podium at six major international events, including the World Championships, Pan American Games, Commonwealth Games, and World League. After retiring from Team Canada, she earned an MA in Counselling Psychology from McGill University and worked as a clinical counselor in her hometown of Montreal.
